Kimberly L. Chavers, Esq., specializes in bringing the law to your corner. Kimberly L. Chavers, Esq. stays actively involved in the financial industry, is known by state regulators, including, particularly, the Florida Office of Financial Regulation (FL OFR) and other states, and regularly attends and participates in meetings, conferences and educational events put on by the Financial Planning Association (FPA), Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board), Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA Society), and the Public Investors Advocate Bar Association (PIABA) in order to enhance the success of her clients and help them stay current in a continuously evolving profession and highly regulated industry.
Ms. Chavers' work with both investors and advisers sets her apart from the competition as she has gained insight and knowledge of the financial services industry and the respect of lawyers nationwide on "both sides of the aisle."
Ms. Chavers has drafted and implemented various legal research and writing workshops for Barry University School of Law and has guest lectured in the areas of legal research and writing, and securities law.
Ms. Chavers has also had the privilege to be invited as a speaker and panelist on several occasions for the Financial Planning Association, where she led discussions on ethical vs. moral vs. legal behaviors: Practicing Ethics: Applying CFP Board's Standards of Professional Conduct. The program focused on the CFP Board's Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibilities and its sensible applications in a financial adviser’s practices. With thought provoking case studies provided by CFP Board and members, the program explored the crucial role of a fiduciary standard and its impact on the public, the practitioner and the profession as a whole.
When not practicing law, Ms. Chavers is a puppy foster mom for a local rescue, enjoys cooking, and giving back to her community by volunteering to serve as a guardian ad litem for children involved in high-conflict divorce and custody cases in the 12th Judicial Circuit's Family Law Division and coaching Moot Court participants on appellate oral arguments, and mentoring law students through the rigors of law school and preparation for the Bar examination.
